  • Eddy Arnold was an American country music singer and songwriter who was one of the most successful and influential artists of the 20th century. He had more than 150 charted records, including 28 number one hits, and sold more than 85 million records. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1966. Eddy Arnold was born on May 15, 1918, in Henderson, Tennessee. He was the youngest of six children born to a farming family. He began singing in church and at local events as a child, and by the time he was a teenager, he was performing on local radio stations. In 1941, Arnold signed with RCA Victor Records and released his first single, “Each Minute Seems a Million Years.” The song was a hit, and Arnold went on to have a long and successful career. He had 28 number one hits, including “Make the World Go Away,” “Cattle Call,” and “I’ll Hold You in My Heart.” He also had several crossover hits, including “It’s a Sin” and “What’s He Doing in My World.”
